I believe you
Being raped affects ones’ body, mind, and soul.
There is no doubt that rape doesn’t change ones’ perspective of life.
Being raped imprisons ones’ body, mind, and soul by the one that robbed the most sacred sanctuary of yours.
You begin to wonder while scrapping for the last piece of dignity that is left of yours.
You begin to question, why was it me?
You begin to wonder if you can survive the night.
You begin to question, what can I do?
You begin to wonder did I do something wrong.
You begin to question what you were wearing, what you were doing there, and how many drinks you’ve had.
You begin to question yourself in a haze because nobody else believes you.
You begin to doubt yourself because everybody tells you that you are lying.
You begin to believe that nothing happened while your body, mind, and soul is telling you otherwise.
I believe you, I believe you, you are safe now, lets heal your body mind and soul is all you needed to hear.
I am sorry that those were the words you did not hear.
I am sorry for everyone that turned their ears, eyes, and mouth away from you.
I believe you, you are safe now.
It is not your fault, you were raped because the monster preyed upon you.
You could not have done anything to avoid it.
It is not your fault, seems like the world is crumbling upon your feet, but believe me, you can survive the night, days, weeks, months, and years.
It is not your fault, what you were wearing, where you were, and the amount of drinks you’ve had did not get your raped.
I believe you when no one believes you.
I believe you so do not doubt yourself, you are speaking the truth that people do not want to hear. I believe you so allow yourself to accept what happened to your body, do not deny what happened for the sake of others.
Be angry, be agitated, be broken to how life has turned away from you.
But know that not everyday will be full of anger, agitation and the feeling of brokenness.
Your body, mind, and soul has been imprisoned by the monster that welcomed itself inside you when you did not welcome it.
